DRIED AND CRACKED HOOVES

"No Foot No Horse" is one of the most famous sayings in the horses' wolrld. If a horse has small, not well developed feet and hooves that are not healthy, the problems are always lurking and can often jeopardize their sporting career.

One of the most common problems is the dry hoof, which can lead to the annoying cracks, that could bleed and force the horse to rest even for very long periods.

For this reason it is very important to take care of the hooves daily.

Let's see what needs are to be done every day:

- clean the hooves from the manure and from the litter before getting the horse out of the stable

- at the end of the work, it is good to brush the hooves with great care, especially under the sole where some pebbles may have remained. The ideal is to do it before leaving the riding school so as not to dirty the stable with sand

- If the problem is dry hooves, wash the horses' legs with water after the work and before applying the ointment. Then pass a brush with ointment under the sole, well in the grooves next to the frog and on the heels, on the wall and on the coronet. The ointment layer thus forms a barrier by retaining moisture within the hoof. In this way we will always keep the hoof well fed, elastic and in perfect health.
