Switzerland is a relatively small country with less than 9 million inhabitants. Nonetheless, it has played a leading role in the international equestrian scene for many years.
Among his athletes still active, three have managed to reach the first place in the world rankings: Pius Schwizer, Steve Guerdat and Martin Fuchs.
All three of these athletes are part of the Swiss show jumping team and also of the Veredus Riders Team. Pius Schwizer, the veteran, is 61 years old and is currently No. 54 in the world. Together with his partner Vancouver de Lanlore he will participate next April to the finals of the World Cup in Omaha (USA), thanks to the second place obtained in the World Cup in Gothenburg and the two third places in Basel and Leipzig! Martin Fuchs, the youngest of the trio at 30, is currently number 2 in the world rankings. He is also the winner of the 2022 World Cup Final riding Chaplin and The Sinner. In the last two Rolex Grand Prix, in Geneva and 's Hertogenbosh, he took second and fifth place riding Leone Jei. Steve Guerdat, 41, is the most medal-winning of the three, currently number 26 in the FEI World Ranking. He has in his portfolio the individual Olympic gold in London in 2012 with Nino des Buissonets and three World Cup finals won, in 2015 with Paille, in 2016 with Corbinian and in 2019 with Alamo.
What about these three? They are the pillars of the Swiss team but also of the Veredus Riders Team!
Stay connected to see what they will give us in 2023!
